Goodness

Why are humans evern good to each other? This might be a difficult question to answer as every individual is different and every individual might be carry out an act of goodness for a different reason. However i feel most people are good towards other people because they expect others to be good towards them and help them out when they need it. I feel that no one is just good or in other words good without a reason.
